My Speech; Why Cats Make Good Pets.

Hello. As you all hopefully know, I’m Leah Maree. Today I am going to explain to you why I think cats make good pets. Some of you probably won’t agree with me, because you prefer something like dogs, horses, or bunnies, more which is fine by me. Because this is just my opinion on a kinda strange subject.

My first set of reasons for why I think cats make good pets, is because they are easy to take care of. This is true in my opinion because they can, clean themselves, clean up after themselves, and even walk themselves. At least one of these things you would most likely have to do for another pet. The only things you really have to do is feed, water, and love them, they take even less work then a plant.

Another thing that makes them really good pets is because they can help you get better or just stay healthy in general. Cats have been proven to Help Lower Blood Pressure and cholesterol levels. People who own cats also have fewer heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular disease. (Which is pretty much just a fancy word for a stuffed up heart)  They even have a lesser chance of developing allergies and asthma.

Thirdly, Cats make excellent pest control. They can help prevent an infestation of small critters, like rats or mice, or fend off bigger bothers like possums or sometimes even dogs.  Even if you don’t like the thought of cats killing poor little field mice, your feline friend could be protecting your food stashes from foot long monsters. (And yes there are rats around that length, my cats have caught a few of them.

My last reason is because they are quieter. They won't wake you up to barking at the strange guy on your lawn or coca doodle away to the rising sun. As long as they have a way to get inside and back out you will be almost guaranteed a sleep that isn't ruined by them. Just as long as you don't mind them sleeping on your legs, or your stomach, or your head, pretty much anywhere that's warm.

These are just some of the few reasons why I think cats are a nice choice of animal and I hope that I’ve been able to convince you or at least opened your mind to the idea that cats make good pets.
